The Port of Saldanha Bay, situated 120km north of Cape Town on the West Coast, is the largest and deepest naturally sheltered port in the Southern hemisphere. The Port covers a land and sea surface area of over 19300 hectares within a circumference of 91km and is able to accommodate vessels with a draft of up to 21.5 meters.
DORMAC in Saldanha Bay is perfectly positioned to accommodate the repairs and upgrades of offshore semi-submersible drilling rigs, Jack-Up rigs and other vessels requiring deeper water depths due to their draft restrictions.
The entrance channel is maintained at 23m, which is ideal for heavy lift vessel to float on/off MODU’s. This ability to lift rigs / vessels out of the water by means of a heavy lift vessel, in fact provides clients with a convenient “dry docking” service.
The town has capacity for 2000 people in hotels, BnBs etc and Dormac has access to a facility which houses 400 persons with 24hrs security, kitchen, mess hall, recreation hall and on-site shop. This facility is within the port with direct access.
Capable of the fabrication and construction of jackets, piles, subsea structures (incl. manifolds), bridges, decks, process modules for onshore and offshore facilities and topsides for FPSO’s.
We look forward to working with you.
